how did you get to CEO at Stripe & Stare?

I have a degree in Biological Sciences so it took me nearly a year (and a lot of work experience) to persuade anyone to give me my first role in fashion as a Buyers Admin Assistant. After I landed that role, I worked my way up to Buyer, then Product Director where I took on other product teams and product areas. I then joined the board at the same company where I led Product Design, Creative and Creative services, managing a team of 140+ at peak. Stripe & Stare is my first CEO role which felt like the natural next step in my career.

Biggest moment at S&S?

I love seeing our brand come to life in person and to meet our amazing
community. Our pop-up last Summer on Kings Road and seeing our
Knicker Cart in Selfridges have been particular highlights.

and the biggest thing you've learnt?

How fast you can move in a smaller business. You can be super agile and test & learn very quickly.

Which women inspires you most and why?

My mum. She had four children by the age of 28. When we were in our
teens, she took her A-Levels, then her teaching degree and started her
career in education in her 40s. She taught me not to stand still in life
and to go after what you want. I also have a very inspirational group of
ex-colleagues and now close friends that I regularly meet up with. They
give the best advice and I love hearing about the amazing things they
are achieving in their careers.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced and how did you overcome it?

Personally, having dual careers and 3 children is certainly a challenge. I will let you know when I have overcome that one 😊 From a career perspective, I had just taken on my first board role when the Covid pandemic started. Ensuring my team were safe and supported, keeping the business running and home schooling was tough.

your hero product?

Just one? That’s too hard! I would go with the Original (and in my view
still the best) Knicker but am absolutely loving the new Smooth Sculpt
Bra too.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given? 

Always be polite. Manners are so important and even the hardest conversations can happen with honesty and integrity.

and finally...any hints of what we can expect from Stripe & Stare in the next few months?

It’s Chriiiiiistmaaaas. My favourite time of the year and the range is looking AMAZING! The team have knocked it out the park. We also have a very exciting collaboration coming in January, but I am sworn to secrecy on that one I’m afraid.
